Hangzhou, located on the central-eastern Chinese coast in the Zhejiang province, is considered “the Silicon Valley of China” particular for its livability, openness, favorable legal and economic conditions, and strategies to attract, develop and retain talent. In the 2020 ranking of “best city for tech startups in China”, Hangzhou just moved up to third place, behind only Beijing and Shanghai. The industries in Hangzhou have great diversity. New-generation information technology, high-end equipment manufacturing, automotive and new energy automotive, energy-saving and environmental protection, new materials, biomedical and high-performance medical devices and the fashion industry are the leading industries in Hangzhou. The Hangzhou Innovation & Entrepreneurship Competition aims to build a platform of various resources such as innovation & entrepreneurship policies, talents, funds, industries, markets, and so on to help startups succeed in Hangzhou. The competition also targets to improve the innovation atmosphere, stimulate innovation vitality, guide innovation investment and help Hangzhou take lead in China’s digital economy.

In the 2020 ranking of “best city for a tech startup in China”, Hangzhou just moved up to the third place, behind only Beijing and Shanghai.
Hangzhou is the home to China’s largest e-commerce company Alibaba, Chinese multinational automotive company Geely and second-largest gaming company NetEase. The growing economy brought by these giants attracts many talents to land in Hangzhou. In 2020 alone, the total number of talents in Hangzhou reached 2.85 million, with 100,000 foreign experts have been employed here.
Regarding location, Hangzhou is only 1 hour away(by train) from Shanghai but with a lower cost of living than Shanghai and Beijing. Which makes Hangzhou a better city for living.
